Another roller coaster of a ride at Maes Tegid since my last home programme notes with the summit being reached with our second ever Welsh Cup Final appearance secured after a superb Semi Final victory against Connahs Quay.
Our League form has certainly been disappointing – a home draw v Penybont, an away draw v Connahs Quay and a hugely disappointing away defeat at Newtown conceding 2 goals in injury time! And then the bounce back – a brilliant Welsh Cup Semi Final performance saw us reach our second Welsh Cup Final with a 3-2 win over Connahs Quay! It was a match to remember for all who witnessed the spectacle. Football of the highest standard and demonstrating through the national television coverage of how far domestic football in Wales has progressed. It was a showpiece event that lived up to its expectations of drama, excitement, quality, passion and brought significant praise from the television pundits. We were delighted to be a part of it!! Even more delighted to have won it!! Brilliant support from the Bala contingent must also have helped our team significantly. Thanks to you all for the travelling support.
However we are still a way off in ensuring that our main aim of European qualification is achieved – it hangs in the balance – but as things stand at the moment we have 3 ways still open to us to qualify - Automatic spot by finishing 2nd or 3rd in the League – Winning the Welsh Cup – Through the Play Offs. We should be justifiably proud of this position and I’m sure that every other Club in Wales would love to be in a similar situation. We certainly punch above our weight at Maes Tegid!!
As a point of information for all the Club will hold its Annual Presentation Evening in the Plas Coch after our Good Friday Home League fixture against Newtown on April 7th. This is the last Home fixture with an afternoon start which allows us to take everyone to the Plas after the match. All are most welcome to join us. Please contact Gill or Carol for more details. We would love to see you there.
We are also still awaiting date, time, venue for the Welsh Cup Final but please save the date of Sunday April 30th as this seems to be the most favourable day to hold the event!!
Another huge fixture for us today as we welcome our friends from Cardiff Met to Maes Tegid. We have Match Day Sponsors from the Plas Coch Saturday evening brigade. Thank you most sincerely for your tremendous support. You are the lifeblood of our Club!! We all look forward to another fascinating day’s entertainment.
Diolch pawb.
Nigel.
