Match Preview: Aberystwyth Town vs Bala Town

It's JD Welsh Cup weekend, as the Town head to mid-Wales to take on Aberystwyth Town in the Third Round of the Cup!

The Lakesiders come into the JD Welsh Cup tie having drawn to Pontypridd United in a lacklustre match at Maes Tegid last weekend, with the game ending goalless after 90 minutes. The Town's most recent triumph was against Haverfordwest County on the 21 of October with George Newell grabbing a brace to earn the three points in the JD Cymru Premier.

On the other hand, The Seasiders will be in high spirits after their last two outings, with two wins against Penybont and Barry Town; not to mention their hard fought draw against Connah's Quay Nomads just over a month ago.

Danger Man

Iwan Lewis: The 30 year old Midfielder has played every minute in the JD Cymru Premier so far for Aberystwyth, scoring two goals in the process. Lewis is also the joint top scorer for Aber this season, alongside John Owen and Jack Thorn, with two goals each.

Previous Meetings

The Lakesiders were unbeaten in our past nine meetings with Aberystwyth up until the 27th of September this year, as the Seasiders took the spoils at Maes Tegid in the JD Cymru Premier, with John Owen providing the only goal in the game. Prior to the most recent meeting, the Town had won 8 out of 9 matches in all competitions against Aber, with just the singular draw in February 2022. The most recent meeting at Park Avenue was a Bala win in September 2022; despite an early red card to Chris Venables, the Town thumped the Seasiders 4-1 with Kieran Smith, Nathan Peate, Dave Edwards getting on the scoresheet.
