Match Preview: Bala Town vs Newtown

The Lakesiders returned to winning ways in the league last time out, with three goals in 16 first half minutes against Aberystwyth Town would secure the three points in a comfortable victory at Maes Tegid.

The Town currently sit in 5th place in the JD Cymru Premier having collected three wins, two draws and two defeats in our opening seven fixtures and have also progressed into the Quarter Finals of the Nathaniel MG Cup after a 2-0 victory against Holywell Town in midweek.

Newtown also head into tonight's fixture on the back of two consecutive victories, with wins against Briton Ferry Llansawel and Cardiff Met in the JD Cymru Premier, leading them to sit just a point behind 2nd placed Cardiff Met going into this evening.

Danger Man

Aaron Williams: The 30 year old has three goals to his name already in this JD Cymru Premier season, having scored both Newtown goals in a 2-1 victory over Barry Town and the only goal in a win against Briton Ferry Llansawel. The Englishman will be looking to replicate his goal scoring figures from last season where he netted 19 goals in 26 league appearances for the Robins in a season where his side failed in the European Play-Off Semi Final against Penybont and would finish the season in 4th just seven points away from the Lakesiders.

Previous Meetings

In last season's meetings, the Lakesiders had the upper hand on the Robins with two wins, one draw and one defeat in the JD Cymru Premier. The last meeting at Maes Tegid would end in a 1-1 draw after Kieran Smith opened up the proceedings, until former and now current Lakesider Louis Robles equalised from the spot, in a game which would secure European football for the Town. However, prior to last season's meetings, the Town were on a three game losing streak against the Robins, with two defeats in the Championship Conference of the JD Cymru Premier and a 4-2 defeat in a European Play-Off Semi Final at Maes Tegid.
