Match Preview: Colwyn Bay vs Bala Town

It's Boxing Day Football for the Lakesiders as we make the short trip further North, as we take on Colwyn Bay at the Four Crosses Construction Arena, as we enter the final three rounds of fixtures in Phase One of the JD Cymru Premier.

The Lakesiders come into this Boxing Day fixture having been defeated by Cardiff Met at Maes Tegid 10 days ago, as a solitary Eliot Evans goal was enough for the Met to take the three points back down South. Prior to the Met defeat, it was a run of six games unbeaten in all competitions, including progression into the Quarter Finals of the JD Welsh Cup.

The Bay have had their struggles throughout their maiden season in the JD Cymru Premier, however with wins against Pontypridd and Penybont at the tail end of November, they have climbed out of the relegation zone at the expense of Pontypridd following a six point deduction, and are currently three points above the drop zone.

Udoyen Akpan: The 24 year old is in fine form for the Bay, having scored in his last four league appearances, while helping his side earn two valuable wins out of a possible four. Akpan also has two goals and an assist to his name in the JD Welsh Cup, with the Bay having recently progressed into the Quarter Finals of the JD Welsh Cup with a 2-0 win over Barry Town.

Previous Meetings

The only meeting between the two sides came in the reverse fixture in this season's JD Cymru Premier, as the Town would earn the three points at Maes Tegid, as goals from Ryan Rogers and Nathan Peate either side of half-time would give the Town a 2-1 victory.
