Match Preview: Penybont vs Bala Town

It's back!

The Cymru Premier League is back for the 2022-23 season, and it's a trip down South for the opening day, as we take on Penybont; in what was the closing fixture of last season's edition of the Cymru Premier.

It was a mixed bag of results against the Bont last season, with two wins, one draw and two defeats, which includes our penalty shootout defeat in the JD Welsh Cup Semi-Final following a 0-0 draw in normal time.

Danger Man

Sam Snaith - The 22 year old had a fine pre-season, netting eight goals in the build up to this campaign, however it's well known; the problems he can cause with his tall presence and strong build, he always looks to bully defenders in the air and makes his presence known inside the box when going up for crosses. The Forward grabbed two goals against the Town last season, both being headers from inside the six yard box, therefore he will definitely be a known threat should he feature in the opening game of the season!

Previous Meetings

It was an impressive end to the season to say the least last season, as the Lakesiders dismantled a young Penybont side 11-0 in the concluding game of the season, with the Bont looking ahead to their JD Welsh Cup Final match against The New Saints. However, the previous meeting was a 5-0 win for the Lakesiders down in South Wales, with Will Evans grabbing hat-trick in a superb performance from the Town. Penybont did prove tough to beat earlier in the season, as they managed to take four points away from us with a 1-0 win and 2-2 draw.
